Together at last…

The positive pattern is up the stairwell from the negative one.

Here’s the pattern with the negative shape.

The patterns were stored outside prior to me getting them, this caused the wood to swell and pull apart. I like the lines created by the exposure and revealed by sanding the weathered patina off.

Often the simple pattern shapes remind me of Martin Puryears’ work.

GREAT Grandpa was pleased to meet you today. I enjoyed touring the house. You have a good eye and a creative bent. Keep it up.
Thanks Fred, it was great talking with you and loved having your clan be there. Hope to see you soon!
I’m curious. Did you consider placing the “positive” force upside down so that it would have been a natural fit for ‘negative” force? (Or maybe the other way around?)
Individually, both elements are so interesting, but I keep thinking that they don’t match up in this arrangement. Does that make sense?
Yeah, it would be a natural fit if the positive were to be turned around. Placing it within eyesight of each other was important so the viewer could do the math, to me the positive is more interesting positioned upward. Thanks for your observation.
